Why Rent an RV?

Renting an RV is a "safe" way for a prospective buyer to try an RV on an extended "test drive" with out the responsibilities or joy's of ownership. Rentals give prospective buyers the opportunity to try various types of RV's and learn from actual experience which one is best suited to their particular needs. Rentals are the answer for families who already know and enjoy the RV lifestyle but don't want the responsibility of ownership. A valid drivers license and proof of age are required our minimum age of driver is generally 25. Before you rent, check with your automobile insurance carrier to see if the rental RV is covered under your current policy or if additional coverage should be purchased. Where can I go in an RV?

There are in excess of 18,000 public and private campgrounds throughout Canada & The United States. Private RV parks and National are found near popular destinations, along major tourist routes and even in city environments.

These campgrounds appeal to travelling families by offering a variety of activities to keep children busy. Swimming pools, game rooms, playgrounds and snack bars are practically standard.

For those who desire an "exclusive" luxury resort atmosphere with facilities such as tennis courts, golf courses and health spas flock to the new breed of "campground's".

You'll discover that public campgrounds tend to be simple, but offer great scenic beauty, near public lands popular for hiking, fishing, white water rafting and many other outdoor pursuits.

Do children like RVing?

RVing and children, go together like sun & sand. An RV trip is the ideal vacation with children. RV's keep kids happy while on the road with entertainment options like VCRs for watching videos, audio headphones for listening to tapes, kitchens to prepare favourite meals and snacks, plenty of elbow room and nap space and bathrooms.

Will my RV be enjoyed?

Yes. RV's are truly a family travel and camping vehicle for all seasons and all sport's. Even in Canada's cold winter your RV can be the "Cocoon" from a day on the slopes, ice fishing or sledding.

Where could I meet other people?

Join an RV club! Some clubs are primarily social, giving you a chance to travel with people who have the same brand RV as yours or with like-minded friends who share your interests.

How much does an RV cost?

Starting prices can be as little as $2,100 for folding camping trailers and in excess of $300,000 for a handful of motorhomes, depending on size and options.

What type of financing can I get for a new RV?

Loans for an RV will range from 3 to 20 years. The majority of lenders require less than a 20 percent down payment, and many lenders require a down payment of under 10%.

Are RV loans tax-deductible?

Yes, for the vast majority of RV buyers, the interest on their loan may be deductible.

Minimum rental time?

The minimum rental duration is 4 nights. There may be extended minimums over Holidays and during special events and high season in which case the minimum may be 7 nights per rental.

Mileage is included?

Four night rentals include 400 Km's and seven night rentals include 700 Km's. You may pre-purchase additional Km's in blocks of 250 KM's.

What if I am involved in an accident?

You must notify the local Police and secure an accident report, in addition to the affiliate Landcruise office within 5 hours of such an accident.

What's the M.P.G?

Mileage depends on the size of the motorhome and the driving conditions. Generally, you will get between 7 and 18 miles per gallon.

Do I need a special license?

All you need is to be 25 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. No special endorsement is needed.

Is it hard to drive an RV?

Motorhomes, handle much like a large car; however, they are not as nibble.

Are RV's difficult to hook up?

No. At departure you will be given a 30-60 minute familiarization tour and learn how to use and operate appliances.

Is the RV equipped with pots, pans, linens, etc?

No, but we rent 2 types of packages for bedding and cookware.

The Personal Provisioning Kit costs $55 per person, for the duration of the trip. It includes a plastic laundry bag, RV sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, queen size sheet, bath towel and wash cloth and the Vehicle Provisioning Kit costs $85 per vehicle, also for the duration of the trip.

It has such items as a pocket flashlight/table lantern, campground guide(s), sponge, hot pad, can opener, bottle opener, broom with dust pan, pail spatula, cups, plates and silverware for the party, serving spoon, serving fork, utility knife, platter, coffee percolator, colander, mixing bowl, and a cookware set(2 saucepans [1 and 2 Qt], skillet with lid, 5Qt Dutch pot with lid, and coffee boiler).

Besides the rental cost are there any other charges I will incur?

Yes. In Canada & the United States, there is tax on the rental charges, any extra services, insurance or kits you should choose to purchase.

Is there a generator?

Yes, in some cases. Where there is a generator, the fee is $3 per hour and will be collected upon return of the rental.

Does the motorhome come with a TV, VCR or stereo?

There is an AM/FM radio with a cassette player in the dash. Some RV's are equipped with TV(s) a VCR and even satellite receiver's are becoming common.

Are awnings on the motorhome?

Not generally. Some motorhomes do have awnings; however, they are secured closed for liability reasons.

Is there a limit to how many people can ride in the motorhome?

The "C-Class" 28'-31' motorhome can hold a family up to 8 otherwise, 6 is the maximum. The law here requires that each passenger have a safety belt on, while vehicle in use.

May I park my car at the rental facility when away?

Parking at some centres is very limited. Contact us in advance to see if we can accommodate you. If you are allowed to park, it is at your risk entirely.

Can we leave our luggage at the rental location?

Often this is not a problem, but again, check with your rental centre. Please note, that anything left at the rental centre is at your own risk.

How much does it cost to stay in campgrounds?

Campground rates vary based on time of year and what facilities they offer. Generally you can expect to pay between $10 and $50 per night.

What kind of facilities might a campground offer?

A partial list of commonly found facilities would include: electric, water, sewer hook-ups, washer, dryer, swimming pool, playground, BBQ pits, on-site convenience store.

Do you plan itineraries for trips?

Yes we do. For that type of information, we recommend you contact us via e-mail for help.

What if I return the vehicle before the date it is due?

No refunds will be made for early returns, late pick ups or unused miles.

What if I am late in returning the vehicle?

The vehicle is considered overdue after 11:AM on the date of scheduled return. A fee of $45 per hour will be charged for each hour you are late. Please notify the rental centre if you will be late in returning, so that we may not delay the next families vacation.

Do you have baby car seats and cribs available?

Car seats are generally available for rent; cribs usually are not. Contact us for what is available.

Is it safe to drink the water from the motorhome tank?

Yes. However, we do not recommend this. It is difficult to know if the water is potable when you fill the tank at a variety of locations. We recommend you use bottled water for drinking. The water from the tank is fine for cooking, washing and bathing.

What if the motorhome breaks down?

Landcruise affiliates provides a 24-hour toll free customer assistance line.

Is there a ladder so we can get on the roof?

Not generally, owing to safety reasons; however, some motorhomes do have ladders which should not be used.

Are there bike racks?

Our affiliates rental centres can help as most centres have them available for rent.

Are there levellers provided?

No. Levellers are only provided when the RV rented has a "slide out" room or rooms.
